Election this is the important election that takes place once in 5 years to elect 543 members for the Parliament the 2019 Indian general election is scheduled to be held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th lok sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 may, & on the same day the results will be declared.
India is a federation with a parliamentary system governed under the constitution of India, which is defines the power distribution between the union, or central, government & the states.

Voting in Nagpur

Nagpur goes to polls in the first phase of the 2019 general elections—its road transport, highways and shipping minister Nitin Gadkari’s home turf, which is now seeing the rise of his charge and Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. Gadkari is seeking a re-election. A once Congress support, this historic town has seen a subtle tilt towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the last decade or so, thanks to a resurgent saffron party.

If 2014 was a departure from the past, what will 2019 serve up? The results on 23 May would tell us that.
What is Nagpur voting for? Development, perhaps a metro rail is coming up, cement roads are replacing tar roads, new malls are mushrooming and old structures are giving way to the new ones. Yet, Nagpur grapples with an identity crisis.

Elections in Nagpur

It’s been a month that the metro rail got operational and the joy rides are not ending. This is one of the four metro corridors opened for commercial operation before the Model Code of Conduct came into vogue ahead of the general elections. The Khapri-Sitabuldi leg will not perhaps be the busiest of the four planned routes like the one from Sitabuldi to Hingna or East Nagpur. “Metro rail is a plan to alter Nagpur,"

Will Nitin Jairam Gadkari defy history to win a second term from Nagpur as a Lok Sabha member? Nagpur goes to polls in the first phase. Over 2.1 million voters will cast their vote on 11 April. He has huge personal stakes in the coming general elections. Some of his ideas are experimental. Some of his pet-projects are half way through. And there’s a charge that’s quietly turned a challenger.

Nagpurians doubt if we could ever bring in such businesses, though an Oxford Economics report pitted Nagpur to be among the 20 fastest growing cities in the world from 2019-35. Nagpur is an education and a medical hub; an economy driven by services, small enterprise and trading, and regional government offices.

NOT ONLY SHOULD VOTING NOT BE MANDATORY, BUT EVERYONE SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED TO DO IT.
